network security parameters
Help! I set up a wireless network at home which I left free to air. How can I change it?
While I was installing the device, I was asked whether or not I would use a security password in order to connect to the wireless network. At that time I chose not to. But now my internet connection has become really slow and I guess that other users are connecting to my account. How can I change this parameter now? (Windows XP)
Your router manufacturer will have an explanation on their website explaining how to setup WEP. Also it is most likely explained in a manual that probably came with the router. Basically you need to log on to the router and do the setup. Open internet explorer and type in the address bar 192.168.1.1 fpr a linksys router or 192.168.0.1 for a Dlink. Not too sure about dlink and other brands. Then enter your user name and password if you changed any of that on the original setup. Otherwise use the factory defaul user name and password. These will be explained in your user manual.
